Ask the patient to show you how he/she would get a glass of water.

Describe some or all of the following:

  • Ability to get up from the chair
  • Steadiness and pattern of gait
  • Ability to reach for a glass from the cupboard
  • Ability to remember the task requested
  • Ability to turn the water on and off
